T is for Taking Time out

The school holidays are already half over, and I can't believe it has gone so fast. I have been having a really good time with the kidlets too.

On Monday and Tuesday we played the Wii, and read and did some wonderful drawings. Tuesday night was swimming lessons, and everyone is going so well now. Harry is ready to progress into the highest lessons group, Charlie is about to go up into the second highest group, and Matilda is really coming along, and is loving the water.

Wednesday, we caught the train to Lithgow, and Mum took us out to her house at Ben Bullen. On the way we stopped in to see her new horse, Banjo. He is a gorgeous chestnut, and very friendly. I couldn't touch him, of course, but he was a lovely horse, and Mum is very happy with him, and her lessons.

On Thursday we went to Bathurst, where the is a temporary Ice-skating and Tobogganing rink set up, in the Cattle shed at the Showground. The kids aren't the most steady on skates, so we decided to just have a go on the Toboggans. It was really quite fast and I knew Matilda would freak out, so the boys were the only ones to have a go. After 6 rides each, and a few extra for Harry, they had had enough. We went into Bathurst to a cafe called Banjo's for lunch, and then we went out to the Ten-pin Bowling centre. Two games later and they had had enough of that too, so off we went home, via an op-shop, where I picked up two cardigans, and Mum got a great wool jacket.

On Friday, we went into Lithgow and caught the train home again. It was fairly crowded, and the kids started to play up a bit with about half an hour to go, but we made it in one piece, and I wasn't too frazzled by the end.

Today we had everyone here for Matilda's birthday party, but I will post about that tomorrow, when I have uploaded the photos.
