Trip to Sydney

On Sunday we woke up to a rare clear, sunny day, and nothing planned. We decided to go on a trip to Sydney to catch sight of the Queen Victoria passenger ship that was docked in Circular Quay. Train trips are always a bit much for me with the three kids, but they all behaved very well. When we arrived at Circular Quay, we could see the ship moored on the Bridge side of the Quay. Surprisingly, Mick was intuitive enough to realise that the amount of people swarming around that side of the Harbour would cause more problems than just controlling the kids, unfortunately panic attacks are not unknown for me in large crowds. We headed up George Street to get some lunch and then we walked down and around towards the Opera House. I remember being able to see the Opera House from Circular Quay, but now there are a whole row of apartment buildings running right down the right hand side of the Quay. Ugly.....

The Queen Victoria

We could see the funnel of the Queen Elizabeth II moored at Garden Island, but we decided not to wait the 4 hours it would take to see the boats pass each other at Fort Dennison. We wandered back around to the train station and made the trip home. It was a surprisingly good outing, and there were no major dramas or tantrums while we were gone.
